12월 1∼10일 수출 26.9%↑ 일평균 11.9%↑…반도체 52.1%↑<br /><br />South Korea's exports in the first ten days of December increased compared to the previous year,... raising hopes that outbound shipments could be on the road to recovery.<br />Bae Eun-ji reports.<br />South Korea saw an increase in exports during the first ten days of this month... despite the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.<br />According to Korea Customs Service on Friday, the country's exports from December 1st to December 10th amounted to some 16-point-3 billion U.S. dollars ... up 26-point-9 percent compared to the same period last year.<br />The increase was mainly due to semiconductor exports, which were up 52-point-1 percent on-year.<br />Wireless communication devices also showed a strong performance... increasing 59-point-6 percent on-year.<br />And shipments of cars and car components were up by 34 percent and 22-point-4 percent respectively.<br />But exports of petroleum products were down by more than 30 percent, due to a plunge in global oil prices.<br />Exports to the U.S., EU and China saw the largest jumps... whereas shipments to the Middle East and Singapore fell.<br />The daily average exports, which takes working days into account, also increased by 11-point-9 percent on-year.<br />The strong export figures raise hopes of an economic recovery as monthly exports had fallen for six straight months from March to August.<br />The nation then saw an increase of 7-point-6 percent on-year in September, but slipped again in October before a slight increase again in November.<br />If December's figures remain strong for the rest of the month, that would give South Korea two consecutive months of on-year export growth.<br />Bae Eun-ji, Arirang News.<br />
